Ward County – Horacio Acosta-Ramirez, Rene Cruz Killed in Accident on Business 20

At least two people were killed after a two-vehicle accident on Business 20 in Ward County, Monday morning.
Just after 7:00 a.m., a pickup truck was traveling along I-20BL when it drifted into the opposing lanes where it crashed into another truck. As a result, a total of four people were sent to the hospital for treatment of various injuries. While two occupants were fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. They were identified as 37-year-old Horacio Acosta-Ramirez and 55-year-old Rene Cruz.
No one else was injured.
Based on the initial investigation, the driver of the first pickup truck may have fallen asleep while driving. It was not clear if he was conscious when police responded to the scene of the crash.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
