Elmo – 1 Dead, 4 Hurt in Two-Car Crash on US 80

Just after 5:30 a.m., DPS troopers were dispatched to US Highway 80 following reports of a crash.
According to the preliminary investigation, an unspecified number of vehicles somehow collided with each other which left various injuries to at least four people. They were all given treatment by emergency crews but it was not confirmed if all of them were taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, one unidentified person was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police said one vehicle drifted into the opposing lanes for yet undetermined reasons.
No charges have been filed as the investigation is still in progress. Area investigators are encouraging people who have information relevant to the case to get in touch with them.
