San Antonio – Hit-and-run Collision on Highway 281 Leaves 1 Dead

A man who died after getting hit by a car on Highway 281 has been identified by local officials.

Last Saturday morning, police responded to US 281 near St. Mary’s Street after they received a call reporting a crash at around 2:30 a.m. Initial investigation shows that a man was walking along the southbound lanes of the highway when he was hit by a passing pickup truck, also heading south. The victim, who was later identified as Alberto Flores, was killed upon impact. He was pronounced deceased by emergency crews who responded to the scene.

The pickup truck continued on and crashed into a guardrail. Instead of providing assistance to the victim, the driver, whose identity remains unknown, stepped out of his vehicle and escaped. He has not yet been located by San Antonio police officers.

An investigation is underway.
