Randall County – Train Collision on US Highway 60

A man was killed after getting struck by a train on US Highway 60 near Umbarher, Sunday.
At around 5:00 a.m., a vehicle reportedly ignored a stop signal and crashed into a ditch. It then landed on an embankment and ended up in the train tracks. The driver was then hit by a passing train leaving him seriously injured. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they pronounced the driver at the scene. He was later identified as 21-year-old Carlos Olvera.
No one else was injured.
The Randall County Police Department was requested at the scene to determine the circumstances leading up to the accident. Further details will be available once the investigation was completed.
