Slaton – Two-Vehicle Accident on US Highway 84

At least two people were hospitalized after a vehicle collision on US Highway 84, Friday morning.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred just before 11:00 a.m. on US 84. A semi-truck was traveling along the eastbound lane of the highway when, for reasons that had not yet been determined, it jackknifed and ended up in the center median. A few moments later, it then struck by a number of cars. The semi-truck then spun a few times and crashed into a police vehicle. The officer sustained undisclosed injuries and was immediately taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock. His condition was not released at this time.
Emergency crews extricated one person from one of the vehicles involved. The victim was also rushed to UMC where he was listed in a critical condition.
No one else was injured.
