Dumas – 1 Killed, 1 Injured in Rear-End Crash on US 87

A woman was pronounced deceased after a fatal car crash on US Highway 87 in Dumas, Friday afternoon.
According to the initial investigation, the incident occurred at around 1:35 p.m. on US Highway 87. A 1999 Ford Explorer had been traveling along the highway when it pass around a 2015 Volkswagen Pasat, prompting a crash. Responding officers said the Explorer, for yet unknown reasons, reduced its speed causing the Pasat to struck its rear. The Explorer was then sent into a center median and rolled over.
The driver of the Ford Explorer sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by emergency crews who responded to the scene. Meanwhile, an occupant in the Pasat, was also hurt and immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment.
His condition was not disclosed at this time. No identification has been released pending notification of their next of kin.
