Jefferson County – Pedestrian Crash on US 69

A tragic pedestrian collision on US Highway 69 caused the death of one person, Thursday evening.
At around 7:00 p.m., local police officials responded to US 69 near Farm to Market Road 3514 to assist in an accident. Initial reports said a vehicle experienced a mechanical problem along the highway. When the driver stepped outside the car to call for help, she was then struck by a passing Ford pickup truck. The impact of the collision fatally injured the female driver. She was later pronounced deceased by emergency crews who arrived at the scene.
No one else was injured.
Jefferson County law enforcement authorities are still determining the circumstances leading up to the incident. It was not clear if the pickup driver will be facing charges.
An investigation is ongoing.
