Oldham County – Victim of US 385 Collision Identified

The Texas Department of Public Safety has released the name of the driver who died in a solo-vehicle accident on US 385.
The fatality was identified as 32-year-old Derek Cameron, of Grapevine.
According to initial reports, the incident happened at around 4:00 p.m. along the northbound lanes of US 385, just south of Channing. Cameron was driving a 1998 Chevrolet K1500 pickup truck along the highway it drove into a ditch while attempting to pass a vehicle that was heading north. When Cameron tried to drive the car back up to the roadway, he went out of control of the car which caused it to roll over a number of times. The pickup truck came to rest in a ditch.
Cameron was pronounced deceased following the collision. His passenger was rushed to an Amarillo hospital with serious injuries. He was listed in stable condition.
