Navasota – Teen Died in Highway 6 Crash

At least one person was pronounced deceased when a fatal accident took place on Highway 6 near Navasota, early Saturday morning.
In an unspecified time in the morning, local troopers were requested on the southbound lanes of Hwy 6, four miles south of Navasota, to assist in a vehicle crash. According to initial reports, a vehicle was heading south when it suddenly went out of control and crashed into a tree. An initial investigation indicates that the driver of the vehicle may have fallen asleep while behind the wheel.
The driver, who was only identified as a 17-year-old Friendswood High School student, was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
No one else was injured.
The Navasota Police Department said that the victim was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
An investigation is underway.
