Amarillo – Man Died Following Auto Crash on US 87

The Amarillo Police Department has released the name of the victim who died in a fatal car accident on US 87, last Tuesday night.
The fatality was identified as 33-year-old Travis Arbuckle.
According to initial reports, Arbuckle was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silvered when, for reasons that had yet to be determined, he drove off the roadway and crashed into the center median. When he tried to get back to the roadway, the vehicle ended up in the southbound lanes, overturning a number of times. Arbuckle was thrown off the vehicle due to the force of the impact. He was pronounced deceased by emergency crews who responded to the scene.
Initial report shows that the truck came to a rest upright facing northeast on the west side of the southbound lanes.
Police are still investigating the incident but they believe that speed may have played a role in the accident.
