A child sustained injuries after getting hit by a vehicle on East Renfro Road, Wednesday evening.
In an unspecified time in the evening, a child, identified only as an 11-year-old boy, was crossing the street outside a grocery store at the 3000 block of East Renfro Rd when he was struck by the side mirror of an ambulance passing by. The force of the impact left the child with a non-life threatening injury. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found the boy unconscious with injuries to the head. He was immediately taken to Cooks Children’s Hospital via ambulance where he is expected to recover.
Authorities did not confirm if the ambulance that struck him was the one who rushed him to the hospital.
No further details are available as the investigation is still in progress.
