Odessa – Man Struck by a Train on West Loop 338

An Odessa man died after getting hit by a train on Murphy Street in southeast Odessa, early Sunday morning.
Initial investigation indicates that the incident, which involved a pedestrian and a train, took place at the intersection of Murphy St and West Loop 338. It is not confirmed what the man was doing before he was hit by a passing Union Pacific train. The impact of the crash instantly killed the victim who was identified as a 43-year-old Odessa man.
Fortunately, the driver and passengers in the train did not sustain injury from the crash.
Authorities will release the identification of the victim once his next of kin has been notified.
