Amarillo – Man Struck by Car on I-40

A man was seriously injured after getting struck by a vehicle on Interstate 40, Monday morning.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred at around 9:20 a.m. at the 8000 block of West Interstate 40. Police said a 2019 semi-truck was traveling along the westbound lane when it struck a man who walked right in front of its path. The force of the impact seriously injured the pedestrian. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Amarillo local authorities only identiifed the victim as 28-year-old resident of Ocala, Florida.
The driver of the truck was not hurt. He was identified as 50-year-old male of El Paso, Texas.
Area investigators arrived at the scene to determine the circumstances leading up to the accident. It is not clear if the driver will be charged.
The crash remains under investigation.
