Shelby County – Solo-Vehicle Accident on US 96

A fatal rollover accident on US 96 killed at least one person last Thursday morning, a local news source reported.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, local troopers were requested to assist in a vehicle accident on US 96, north of Center, just after 11:00 a.m.A Chevrolet pickup truck was heading south along the highway when, for yet unknown reasons, it went off the roadway and overturned. Police said the driver of the truck attempted to overcorrect but ended up upside down instead. A man was pronounced deceased as a result of the crash. He was only identified as a 64-year-old resident of Tenaha.
No one else was injured, as per authorities.
DPS officials have yet to determine what caused the driver to lose control and drove off the roadway. An investigation is still in progress.
