Lone Oak – Emory Resident Killed in US 69 Crash ID’d

Local authorities have identified the victims who died in a two-vehicle accident on US Highway 69 near Lone Oak last Sunday evening.
The fatalities were named as Beverley Barton from Emory and Harold Thompson of Greenville. According to the release, a white Grand Caravan, driven by Harold Thompson, was heading south on Highway 69 when, for reasons that had not been determined, it collided with a silver Jeep, driven by Beverley Barton. A preliminary investigation shows that the Jeep cross into the northbound lanes which prompted the crash.
Both drivers sustained life-threatening injuries from the force of the impact. Barton was pronounced deceased by emergency crews while Thompson was rushed to Medical City of Plano for medical treatment. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
The crash is currently under investigation and no additional information is currently available.
