Orange County law enforcement officials have released the name of the victim who died in a deadly motorcycle accident on Interstate 10 late Friday night.
The fatality was identified as John Franklin Martin, 42, of Buna.
According to initial reports, Buna was operating a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle along the eastbound lanes of I-10 when it struck a couch that was sitting in the middle of the highway. The impact threw Buna off his motorcycle, leaving him seriously injured. He was rushed to St. Elizabeth’s hospital in Beaumont where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after. Police said the victim was not wearing a helmet when the accident took place.
No one else was injured.
Local investigators have yet to determine why the couch ended up in the highway.
