New Fairview – Multi-Vehicle Collision on US 81

Last Friday afternoon, at least two people were hospitalized after a crash involving a reckless driver on US 81 in the New Fairview area.
Just after 2:15 p.m., Texas Department of Public Safety officials responded to a collision which took place on US 81 near US 287. Based on a preliminary investigation, a Ford F-350 pickup truck was heading north on the highway when it struck a GMC Denali while attempting to change lanes. The GMC was then sent to the opposing traffic where it collided with a Chevrolet pickup truck head-on.
Both drivers of the GMC and Chevrolet sustained injuries from the force of the impact. They were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Their condition remains unknown at this time. Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford, identified as 65-year-old Frederick Hindman of Fort Worth, was arrested for two counts of intoxication assault and taken to the Wise County Jail, according to Hunter. He was not hurt.
