Lubbock – Benjamin Martinez Died Following a Bicycle Accident on North Detroit Avenue

The Lubbock Police Department has released the name of the bicyclist who died in a collision with a pickup truck on North Detroit Avenue, according to a local news source.
Police said that the victim was identied as 56-year-old Benjamin Martinez.
Based on a preliminary investigation, Martinez was riding his bicycle near the intersection of North Detroit and Emory Street when a pickup truck that was attempting to make a turn struck him. The impact of the collision left the bicyclist with serious injuries. He was rushed to UMC where he later died of his injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified only as a woman, did not suffer any injuries. Her identification has yet to be released.
No charges have been made as the investigation is still in progress.
