El Paso – 74-year-old Thomas Saenz Struck and Killed by Car on Dyer Street

The El Paso Police Department has released the name of the 74-year-old El Paso man who died after getting struck by a vehicle on Dyer Street, last Thursday night.
Authorities identified the victim as 74-year-old Thomas Saenz of El Paso. According to police reports, Saenz was seen crossing the intersection of Dyer Street near Hondo Pass when he was struck by a passing SUV. The impact of the collision left Saenz with serious injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital where he later died, as per authorities last Friday.
The driver of the SUV, identified as 60-year old Juan Leon of El Paso, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with local investigators. Leon told officers that he was unable to avoid Saenz.
Based on a preliminary investigation, Saenz was not using the crosswalk when the collision took place.
