Wilmer- Wrong-Way Collision on Interstate 45

At least one person died as a result of a fiery crash on Interstate 45, North Freeway, last Friday morning.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred at around 4:00 a.m. along the northbound lanes of I-45 at Pleasant Run. Details about how the crash took place are very limited at this time but it was confirmed that a Chevrolet sedan, for reasons that had not been determined, was traveling on the opposite side of the road where it collided with a Lexus. A few moments later, a fire erupted.
The drivers of the two vehicles were both transported to Baylor University Medical Center for treatment. As per medical personnel, the wrong-way driver was listed in fair condition. She was identified as Jay’la Sherley, 23, of Lancaster.
No citations have been issued as the investigation is still in progress.
