Plainview – Caleb Stephens Struck by a Car on West Fifth Street

An auto versus pedestrian collision caused the death of a 29-year-old man on West Fifth Street, according to a local news source.
Police said that the incident took place at the 600 block of W. 5th Street. A blue 2003 Audi was seen traveling along the westbound lane of the road when it struck a man who was lying on the roadway. The pedestrian, who was identified as 29-year-old Caleb Stephens, was immediately taken to the Lubbock University Medical Center with unspecified injuries. He is listed in critical condition.
Plainview law enforcement officials have yet to determine how or why Stephens was lying on the road. They are looking into the possibility of intoxication.
No words on the driver of the Audi.
