Houston – Officer Injured in DUI Crash on Beltway 8

A vehicle collision involving a drunk driver seriously injured a deputy officer on Beltway 8, early Sunday morning.
At around 1:00 a.m., Houston local troopers were notified about a major car accident on Beltway 8 near TC Jester. According to the report, a police officer was on a traffic stop when a vehicle struck the rear side of his car. The impact of the crash left the officer with head, neck, and back injuries. He was immediately taken to the hospital where he received proper treatment. Authorities said that he was released Sunday morning.
The suspect, identified as Reese Pompey, was also taken to the hospital for further care. Police said that Pompey showed several signs of intoxication and his alcohol content is three times over the legal limit. He is charged with intoxication assault of a peace officer.
