Lufkin – Woman Hospitalized after Vehicle Accident on South First Street

The Lufkin Police Department is investigating a car collision on South First Street which sent a woman to a hospital, early Tuesday morning.
Just before 6:00 a.m., a two-car crash took place at 1500 block of South First Street. A 1998 Mercury vehicle, with its emergency lights on, was resting on the outside lane of the highway when it got rear-ended by a 2012 Ford pickup truck. The force of the major seriously injured the driver of the Mercury who was only identified as 48-year-old Lufkin woman. She was airlifted to a Tyler hospital with a leg injury.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured. He was identified as Brady Kelly, 27, of Lufkin.
Police have yet to determine what lead up to the crash. It remains under investigation at this time.
