Houston – Single-Car Accident on Martin Luther King Blvd

At least one person was killed after a car crashed into a building on Martin Luther King Boulevard in southeast Houston, Wednesday morning.
At around 11:30 a.m., local troopers responded to the 5900 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Browncroft Street in reference to a report of a crash. According to initial reports, a white SUV was seen traveling along the southbound lane of the road when it crashed into a building. Police said that the said car was seen swerving prior to the incident which may have played a role in the accident.
A witness told investigators that the occupant of the vehicle suffered from serious injuries as a result of the crash. He was pronounced dead by emergency crews who responded to the scene.
Fortunately, no one else was injured.
It is unclear what lead up to the crash. The Houston Police Department Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating.

According to statistics, at least one person dies from a car accident every two minutes. Most common causes of Texas car accidents include unsafe lane change, following too closely or tailgating, failing to yield, and speeding.
While on the road, it is important to avoid any form of distractions and be completely aware of our surroundings. We have to be reminded of how our choices while behind the wheel can affect other people’s lives.
