Mathis – Yvette Laake-Gonzalez Died in Single-Car Accident on Interstate 35

Mathis law enforcement officials have identified the woman who died in a solo car accident on Interstate 35, last Wednesday morning.
The victim was identified as Yvette Laake-Gonzales.
According to initial reports, the incident took place at around 12:35 a.m. Laake-Gonzales was driving a 2003 Chevy Tahoe along the northbound lanes of Interstate Highway 37 when, for reasons that had not been determined, it drifted off the road. When she tried to overcorrect, the vehicle then overturned a number of times. Police said that Laake-Gonzales was ejected upon the force of the impact. She was rushed to Northwest Regional Hospital in Calallen were she died from her injuries.
No one else was injured.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver was not wearing a seat belt during the time of the incident. Police also believed that alcohol may have played a factor in the crash.
The investigation continues.
