Austin – Carlos Moncada Cruz, Teen Died Following a Collision with a Reckless Driver on US 290

Austin law enforcement officials have released the name of the teen driver who died in a multi-vehicle collision US Highway 290, reports said.
The fatality was identified as 19-year-old Carlos Moncada Cruz.
Police said that Cruz was driving a silver vehicle along the highway when it collided with a sport utility vehicle that was exiting a private driveway. The impact pushed Cruz’s vehicle onto the eastbound lanes where it got hit by a passing truck.
Cruz was pronounced dead by emergency crews who responded to the scene. The driver of the truck suffered from non-life threatening injuries and was rushed to an area hospital for further care. His identification was not immediately released.
An initial investigation shows that the SUV made a left turn on a right-turn-only road which may have contributed to the crash. The driver of the SUV was issued a citation for ignoring a posted sign.
