Nederland – Arhya Mitchell Struck by A Car on 21st Street

An auto versus pedestrian collision injured a girl on 21st Street, last Monday afternoon, according to local police.

At around 4:30 p.m., emergency crews were requested at the scene of a crash near Bulldog Station on 21st Street. A preliminary investigation shows that a silver SUV was traveling along the roadway when it struck a girl who was attempting to cross the street. The pedestrian, identified as 8-year-old Arhya Mitchell sustained serious injuries from the force of the impact. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities said that Mitchell was a second grade student at Highland Park Elementary school.

Fortunately, no one else was injured.

Nederland law enforcement officials arrived at the scene to gather information about the incident.

The crash remains under investigation.
