Upshur County – Elizabeth R. Shelt Struck and Killed by Car on Highway 271

Last Sunday, Winfield law enforcement officials have released the name of the pedestrian who died in a fatal car accident on US Highway 271, reports said.
The fatality was identified as 87-year-old Elizabeth R. Shelt. She is a resident of Winnsboro.
According to police, Shelt was crossing Highway 271 at around 9:05 p.m. when a 2014 Toyota Camry that was traveling along the northbound lanes struck her. The victim sustained serious injuries from the force of the impact. She was rushed to UT Health in Pittsburg where she succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities did not confirm if the driver of the Toyota Camry suffered from any injury. She was identified as 74-year-old Beverly Burns Sinclair, a resident of Pittsburg.
No further details are available at this time. Investigators have yet to confirm if the driver will face any charge.
