Hartley County – Jaciel Longoria-Acosta Dies in Fatal Car Accident on US 385

A 26-year-old Dalhart man died as a result of a tragic vehicle collision on US 385, south of Channing, local reports say.
According to police, the victim was identified as Jaciel Longoria-Acosta, 26. A preliminary investigation shows that a vehicle traveling along the northbound lanes of the highway swerved across the center line to avoid another vehicle that was parked on the shoulder of the road. The first vehicle then collided with a semi-truck.
The force of the impact seriously injured Longoria-Acosta. He was pronounced dead by emergency crews who responded to the scene. Another person, whose identity has yet to be released, was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital for medical care. He was later transferred to an Oklohoma City hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
An investigation is underway.
