Lavaca County – Amber Marie Bennetsen Dies in Fatal FM 318 Crash

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have released the name of the victim who died in a recent car accident on Farm to Market 318 Road, Monday midnight.

According to initial reports, a car was seen traveling along FM 318 when, for yet unknown reasons, it went out of control and skidded sideways. The driver tried to overcorrect but ended up on the southbound lanes and slammed into a tree.

The impact of the collision killed its driver instantly. She was identified as 20-year old Amber Marie Bennetsen. Her passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to San Antonio Military Medical Center where they were listed in serious condition. They were later identified as 21-year-old Isaac Zachary Garza, 19-year-old Mariah Michelle Torres, and 19-year-old Tyrone Malick Brooks.

Investigators are still determining what caused Bennetsen to lose control of the vehicle.
