Bandera – Passenger Killed in Highway 173 Collision Identified

Bandera local authorities said that the victim who passed away following a fatal car accident on Highway 173 last March 10 has been identified.
The fatality was named as Karina Michelle Martinez. She was a passenger in a vehicle involved in the said crash.
According to a local news source, a 2003 Infiniti was traveling along the highway when, for a reason that had not been determined, it drifted on the shoulder of the road and crashed into a GMC Yukon that was parked on the side near a curve. The driver of the Infiniti, identified as Christopher Lucero Vergara, 32, and his passenger, Karina Martinez, sustained injuries from the force of the impact. They were rushed to University Hospital in San Antonio where Martinez succumbed to her injuries. Authorities said that Vergara suffered from non-life threatening injuries.
No words on the condition of the occupants in GMC Yukon.
An investigation is underway.
