Houston- One killed in DUI crash on Beltway 8 frontage road

A car accident involving a drunk driver left a teenager with fatal injuries on Beltway 8 frontage road, Monday night.
According to police, the collision happened at around 8:30 p.m., Monday, on East Sam Houston Parkway near Highway 90. A blue Chevrolet Tahoe was heading east on East Sam Houston Parkway when it entered the intersection at a red light. It then crashed into a Ford Expedition on the northbound feeder road.
A passenger of the Chevrolet Tahoe sustained severe injuries and was taken to Life Flight to Memorial Hermann. She was later declared dead a few moments after arrival. Authorities identified her as 11-year-old Vanessa Ledezma.
The driver of the Chevy, identified as 33-year-old Jorge Ledezma Echavarria, suffered from injuries and was hospitalized. His condition was not released.
Preliminary investigation shows that Echavarria showed signs of intoxication.
