Passenger ejected, killed in crash on IH-610 East near NE Houston

HOUSTON, TX — One person died early Wednesday after a single-vehicle rollover wreck on the North Loop East Freeway in northeast Houston, according to KHOU11.
Houston police said the fatal crash happened near North McCarty Street shortly before 2:00 a.m.
An early investigation shows an SUV struck a guardrail, causing the vehicle to flip multiple times.
The victim, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was ejected in the crash and died from their injuries at the scene. Authorities said they did not appear to have been wearing a seat belt.
An investigation was underway, but police said they suspect the driver may have been intoxicated at the time.
