DUI suspect arrested, charged after fatal crash in Houston’s Mid-West

HOUSTON, TX — A 46-year-old man died last Wednesday night after a two-vehicle collision involving a suspected intoxicated driver in Houston’s Mid-West area, according to Houston Police Department.
APD Vehicular Crimes Division said the fatal incident occurred at 8898 Richmond Avenue on January 12 at approximately 11:25 p.m.
A preliminary investigation shows a 35-year-old man was driving a black Dodge Ram pickup truck eastbound on Richmond at the same time the victim was driving a white Audi A6 northbound on Fondren Road. The suspect ran the red light at the Fondren intersection, colliding with the Audi.
Houston Fire medics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The suspect displayed signs of impairment at the scene and was taken into custody. He has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid.
