Man dies after high-speed crash into fire hydrant, trees in NE Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A man was killed Thursday night in a single-vehicle accident that injured two women in northeast Houston’s Trinity/Houston Gardens area, according to Click2Houston.
Houston police said the fatal crash occurred in the 4700 block of Kelley Street at approximately 6:30 p.m.
An early investigation found a vehicle was speeding on the road moments before it struck a fire hydrant and rolled into a cluster of trees.
Authorities said the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. It was unclear whether he was the driver or a passenger in the vehicle.
Two female occupants were transported to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries. No updates on their condition have been released at this time.
An investigation remains in progress.
