One killed in fiery single-vehicle wreck off N Loop E in NE Houston

HOUSTON, TX — One person died early Sunday after a pickup truck collided with a tree and caught fire along the East Freeway in northeast Houston, according to OnScene.TV.
The accident occurred on the freeway’s eastbound service road and was first reported by OnScene.TV at 4:54 a.m.
Authorities said a silver pickup truck was going eastbound when it appeared to have veered off the roadway at a curve and crashed into a tree.
Houston Fire Department crews arrived to find the pickup engulfed in flames. One person in the pickup was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A section of the service road was shut down as an investigation was conducted.
