One dead, one hospitalized after high-speed crash in SE Houston

HOUSTON, TX — One person was killed early Sunday in a two-car collision in southeast Houston’s Southbelt/Ellington area, reports Houston Chronicle.
Houston police said the accident occurred in the 10700 block of Hughes Road at around 1:00 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates a driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when when they struck another vehicle near a stop sign.
Authorities confirmed the causing driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Medics transported the other driver to a local hospital where their condition was said to be stabilized.
An investigation into the fatal crash was in progress.
