HOUSTON, TX — A woman was injured last Thursday morning when she crashed a car into an HPD cruiser on the Gulf Freeway near Houston’s Southbelt/Ellington area, reports Click2Houston.
Houston Police Department said the incident occurred on the northbound freeway near Beltway 8 on November 18, at around 1:45 a.m.
Authorities said officers were responding to the scene of a prior crash, where multiple right lanes had been closed to traffic. At one point, a woman crashed a silver Ford Fusion into an HPD cruiser, sending the cruiser spinning into another HPD car. The third car then hit a Harris County Sheriff’s Office pickup truck.
Houston Fire medics transported the woman to a nearby hospital with a few broken bones.
After a preliminary investigation, officers and deputies said they suspected the woman was intoxicated at the time of the crash. She may face charges of DWI and intoxicated assault.
