Disabled man killed by hit-and-run driver in Houston’s South Side

HOUSTON, TX — A 69-year-old man was killed Friday night in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash in Houston’s South Side area, reports Houston Police Department.
According to HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division, the collision occurred in the 6400 block of Cullen Boulevard at around 6:55 p.m.
Authorities said the man was not in a marked crosswalk as he traveled across the road on foot with the assistance of a walking cane. A witness who was driving southbound on the road at the time said a vehicle ahead of him abruptly careened to the left. The witness also swerved to the left and later saw the male pedestrian lying in the roadway.
It was not immediately clear whether the victim died at the scene or at a hospital.
No further information has been provided on the causing driver, but an investigation is in progress.
