Driver killed in wreck involving hit-and-run driver in SW Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 24-year-old man was killed early Sunday in a chain reaction crash caused by a hit-and-run driver on the Southwest Freeway in southwest Houston, reports Click2Houston.
The series of collisions took place on the northbound freeway near Shepherd Drive at approximately 2:50 a.m.
According to Houston police, the man was behind the wheel of a car heading northbound when he was rear-ended by another vehicle. The man’s car then collided with a silver Infiniti and a BMW, which caused the car to roll onto the right shoulder.
The causing driver traveled away from the scene, failing to stop and render aid.
The driver of the Infiniti remained after the accident and cooperated with authorities, while the driver of the BMW was taken to be evaluated at a local hospital and was charged with DWI.
All inbound lanes at Shepherd Drive were closed to traffic as an investigation was conducted.
Houston Police Department was not able to provide a description of the suspect vehicle, but an investigation remains underway.
