Austin—Man Struck while Crossing Riverside Drive

Last Thursday midnight, an identified man was killed after getting struck by a vehicle on Riverside Driver in east Austin.
In an unspecified time at the middle of the night, Austin police officers responded to a car accident on E Riverside Drive east of State Highway 71. According to initial reports, the collision involved a pedestrian and a gray Jeep. Details surrounding the incident are yet to be determined but it was confirmed that a man died after a passing vehicle struck him while attempting to cross the street. The impact of the collision killed the pedestrian in the process. His identification was not released by police pending notification of the victim’s immediate family.
The driver of the Jeep stayed at the scene following the crash. He is cooperative with the investigation.
