Driver charged with aggravated assault in crash in southeast Houston

HOUSTON, TX – According to ABC 13, a driver was charged with aggravated assault in a crash in southeast Houston on Sunday afternoon, per ABC 13.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Jose Angel Hernandez, reportedly told two bicyclists on Jefferson Street that they could not bike in the area. The bicyclists, a man and a woman, got into a confrontation with the man. He then used his car to hit the woman and knocked her off her bike around 2:19 p.m.
The male bicyclist then reportedly shot the driver in self-defense.
Both bicyclists are expected to be okay and Hernandez was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
