San Marcos– Hit-and-run Collision on N. Lyndon B. Johnson Drive

The San Marcos Police Department is still in pursuit of the driver that injured two people on North Lyndon B. Johnson Drive last Saturday.
Local responders were requested at the intersection of N. Lyndon B. Johnson Drive and E. Hutchison Street at around 10:30 p.m. According to initial reports, a man and his daughter were attempting to cross the street when they were struck by an unidentified car that fled the scene. The suspect’s vehicle was identified as a maroon, four-door Chevy Tahoe with a possible damage to the driver’s side and bumper.
The two pedestrians, Pedro Ybarra, 54, and his 23-year-old daughter Larissa, were rushed to a hospital for treatment. Ybarra was listed in critical condition at Seton Medical Center Hays with severe head injuries and possible brain damage. His daughter sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was later discharged.
Police have yet to identify the hit-and-run driver. The investigation is ongoing.
Our sincerest sympathies to the victim of this unfortunate accident. We pray for their full recovery as we hope that the San Marcos Police Department will do everything to bring those responsible to justice.
Car accidents commonly result in a serious injury and sometimes, death. While accidents are fortuitous events that cannot be foreseen, they can be prevented if only drivers had simply put their complete attention on the road and taken their responsibility as drivers more seriously.
