Bastrop-High School Student Dies in Sunday Crash

The Bastrop Police Department has released the name of the high school student who died in a car accident on Texas 95 on Sunday.
The fatality was identified as 18-year-old Bailey Butler. She was a resident in Bastrop.
A preliminary investigation shows that Butler was driving a 2008 Chevy Cobalt along the southbound lanes of Texas 95 near Mesquite Street. For some reasons, Butler veered onto oncoming lanes and crashed into a 2011 GMC Sierra truck.
Butler was killed by the force of impact. The driver of the GMC Sierra, identified as 47-year-old Danni Anderson, sustained minor injuries and was taken to St. David’s hospital for treatment. Anderson is expected to recover.
Police have not released more details surrounding the crash as the investigation is still in progress.
