HOUSTON, TX – A Good Samaritan was injured by a hit-and-run driver while he attempted to help the victims of a previous collision, KPRC reports.
The collision happened on I-45 between Scarsdale Boulevard and Beltway 8, although the station’s reporting does not say when it occurred. Louis Morales had pulled over to the site of a previous accident and was trying to assist and elderly injury victim when Morales noticed a car bearing down on him at 60 miles per hour. He ran towards the HOV lane in an attempt to get out of its way, but could not avoid a collision. The driver sped off instead of stopping.
Morales was rushed to a hospital, where he spent the next two days. He suffered a broken leg that required a titanium plate and a dozen screws, and will undergo physical therapy to relearn to walk.
The story does not say what happened to the victims of the initial crash.
Police are still on the lookout for the driver responsible for hitting Morales.
