Pedestrian dies in hit-and-run crash on the Eastex Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian tragically died in a hit-and-run crash on the Eastex Freeway this morning, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Our traffic investigators and @HCSO_D2Patrol deputies are at the scene of a fatal pedestrian crash at Eastex Fwy and E Mount Houston. The striking vehicle fled the scene.

The pedestrian was hit near the Eastex Freeway’s East Mount Houston intersection around 7:39 a.m. The vehicle that hit the victim fled the scene of the crash. The HCSO did not report any identifying information on the suspect’s vehicle.
All southbound service road lanes were shut down after the crash.
