Denton—Highway 377 Collision Killed Denton Resident

The victim who died in a car accident on Highway 377 has been identified by Denton Police Department, according to a local news source.

According to initial reports, the fatal crash took place just before 1:00 a.m. last Thursday at the 3300 block of Fort Worth Drive, also known as Highway 377. A dray pickup truck was heading south on Hwy 377 when it veered off the roadway and crashed into a ditch. When the driver attempted to overcorrect, the vehicle ended up in the opposing lanes where it struck a silver vehicle.

The driver of the silver vehicle was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 54-year-old Gene Housley of Denton.

Deputies say that the pickup truck driver was intoxicated during the time of the incident. He was arrested on suspicion of intoxication manslaughter, according to DPD.

No other injuries were reported.
