HOUSTON, TX – A teenager and a man were killed in a crash at an underground car meet in northwest Harris County on the night of Sunday, February 21, FOX 26 Houston reports.
Authorities say a group of people was meeting up for the car meet near the 14900 block of the Northwest Freeway, near Little York Road. One of the drivers at the car meet attempted to do a flyby (driving by the group at a high rate of speed), crashing in another vehicle not participating in the trick.
22-year-old Andrew Mock was driving the vehicle attempting to do the flyby when he hit the back of a Chevrolet Malibu. The Malibu left the roadway and crashed onto the sidewalk, hitting several pedestrians. A man was pronounced dead at the scene while two teenagers were taken to the hospital in critical condition. One of the teenagers died at the hospital on Monday morning.
Another individual was reportedly taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Mock has since been charged with one count of manslaughter in addition to two counts of aggravated assault-reckless driving with serious bodily injuries. The charges may be upgraded.
An investigation into the wreck remains underway.
