HCSO reports death following October car accident

HOUSTON, TX – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has reported that a man killed in an October car accident died of their injuries.

According to the HCSO, Michael Fentress was traveling in a pickup truck driven by Billy Joe Ruffler. Ruffler failed to control his speed and crashed into the back of a car near 3500 Spring Stuebner Road. The hit vehicle then crashed into two other cars.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and released. On Friday, February 5, the Texas Department of Transportation informed the HCSO that Fentress was found unresponsive in his home the same day he was released from the hospital. He was later declared dead by emergency responders.

The crash remains under investigation.
