Pedestrian on Southwest Fwy fatally struck by hit-and-run driver

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian was struck and killed early this morning in a hit-and-run accident on the Southwest Freeway, according to KTRK.
The accident occurred near Kirby Drive at about 1:30 a.m., when a male pedestrian in the lanes of the freeway was struck by a driver who then fled the scene.
The victim, who has yet to be identified, died of injuries sustained during the crash.
Authorities are asking any possible witnesses to come forward to help identify the vehicle or its driver.
Authorities closed down a portion of the Southwest Freeway for multiple hours for the investigation of the crash, which continues at this time.
